Call yourself a side bar?

This is a part of the “Getting Started with Blog Advertising” blog series.
Call yourself a sidebar? is the introduction to a new series that will cover some of the following topics: How to start advertising on your blog, Choosing the right sizes of advertisements for your sidebar, header, strategically price your advertisements, choosing the right sponsors and so much more…

The goal here is that your blog don’t become “that” blog that has the overbearing sidebars that is peppered with un-purchased ad spots that makes the blogger look desperate for money from advertisers.
Instead, you want to look like your blog is alive and vibrant with contextual and strategic advertisements that are providing value for your readers without overwhelming them unsuitable adverts to enable you to put a few dollars in your bank account at the same time.
So let’s rock on!!!
Lesson #1 – Limit the Amount of Ads!
The first rule of Blog advertising is to be extremely careful, sensible, and thoughtful when it comes to offering advertising space on your blog. It is better to limit the adverts to those who enhance your blog not to have as many irrelevant advertisements as you possibly can.
It is all too easy to add advertising slots on your blog; within moments you can add hundreds of ad spots everywhere and make your blog look very desperate very quickly.
