Antique Stencilled Terracotta Pots

Image
Summer is finally here in the UK,  So i have only one thing on my mind.. Gardening.  Well that's not strictly true, its revamping the garden, I leave all the weeding to my wonderful hubby.  He was born with the green fingers, where as i was born to have my fingers covered in paint, glitter, glue and anything else i can craft with. I cleaned up the pots as best as i could, but they were weather worn, but that did not matter.  The first step was to paint the terracotta, i decided to go with cream and green,  as i think these two colours work amazingly well together.  Does the green look familiar??? If you have read the  DIY tiered flower pots  post you would recognise it. Once the pots had dried, I drew the stencil on, I varied the picture on the pots so they were not to same-y. I painted the image using the contrasting colour to the pot. The

DIY Tiered Flower Pots

Few days ago as i was browsing and wasting my time on Pinterest  as i needed some inspiration for the pots i have left over from last year, i ran across this cute idea of making tiered flower pot . I thought why have i never thought about this before? I had all the things i needed: Pots Paint Rod Now i remember why i put these to one side.  They are completely scratched and weather-worn. I used an upturned pot inside the larger one to give the smaller top pot height. I thought that the top pot would be more secure by putting a rod through the upturned pot and the top pot. I had to put this next picture on, to give credit to my little helper.  Please meet 3hree my cat.  I have had him since he w

Image
After the outstanding results I received with the DIY CHALK PAINT , if you read my sideboard , rocking chair or toy chest posts, you will have seen the amazing results that the chalk paint made. So this time  i thought i would test out a milk paint recipe What you need: 4 parts milk powder 1 part bicarbonate of soda 1 part pigment 6 parts cold water Patience  The method is pretty simply. All you need to do is mix the milk, bicarbonate of soda and pigment powders together then add the water and stir well. Leave the paint to sit for 1 hour then stir again and paint. (I know, i know you probably will want to get painting you project, but if you can wait – you will get better outcomes - try watching an episode of  Once Upon a Time... oh lord, my sister and i are addicted) The milk paint dries quickly so once you’ve started using it and be careful not go back over areas, as you can wipe the paint back off. Even though it is touch dry in about 15 mins, if you’re p
