9 FREE Keyword tools to replace Google’s Keyword Tool

With Google has closing down their widely popular keyword tool for public use. (now it seems that if you want access to Google sanctioned keyword data you have to sign up for an Adwords account.) Luckily the internet is such an effervescent industry where innovation is central of most of what we do. So on that note lets take a look at the different tools available to replace Google’s Keyword tool.

1.      Bing Webmaster Toolbox: Bing has a whole collection of tools of their own, including keyword tools. The data will be taken from Bing itself, which means that you should be able to make relative assumptions about keyword popularity.

2.      SEMRush: I am not sure I can say enough about SEMRush. This tool is amazing tool in the fact that you can pretty much do any amount of research that is needed. It is great for competitive research as well as individual keywords.  It is definitely worth checking out.

3.      WordTracker: WordTracker is an application that offers a free tool on their front page.  Although the initial search is free, it is intended for you to sign up for a choice of three packages, but it still provides a quick and clean interface for fast analysis.

4.      SEO Book Keyword Tools: SEO Book has offered these tools on their site for quite a long time, and it still ranks high on my scale of “go-to places”

5.      Keyword Discovery: This is a cool little tool in that it presents the data set in a very large easy to read table. Though they could do with a little TLC on their User interface.

6.      Ubersuggest: Ubersuggest has long been a favourite of many SEOs that need keyword suggestion data. Paid for programme, but they do offer a free starter account for one project.  Have to admit that I just could not get on with it.  Sorry guys.

7.      MajesticSEO: Majestic SEO have a great tool for keyword research. They tweak from their phenomenal index to provide many metrics that you can’t find anywhere else.

8.      KeywordSpy: This is another commercial option with a free front end. With this tool you can search for not only word variations, but also similar words, and spelling mistakes. Designed mainly for PPC, but it still can be quite useful for just getting your lists started.

9.      SpyFu: While I mention competitive research, I need to mention Spyfu. With Spyfu you can do some serious damage to your competitors, as well as get a great overview of a keyword’s value.  All this can be exported over in a handy PFD.

As much as I love google, it does appear that the will still turn without their keyword analyser.
