Pretty Shabby Uk

As you know I can’t resist a bargain, so on a day out to the sea-side I found this little sweetie in a charity shop for just £6.00. I know right, I could not leave it. Please excuse the animal print dressing gown, but it was a tad chilly It was in excellent condition, the only problem was it was mahogany, and my bathroom is beach house. Yes you guessed it, i mixed up a batch of DIY chalk paint  and set to work.  I wanted an antique white shabby chic look. I painted the outside and inside but left the backs unpainted, as i had other plans for this. I did the doors, and left the panels unpainted. I used the paper that was an ideal match, although i did have this paper  for another project, but it was perfect for this one, so i just had to use it. I used the contrasting paper for the back panels, i loved the mismatched patterns of the same colours. And here it is, my beautiful beach hut style bathroom cabine...

We spend a lot of time visiting the sea-side, so we needed a bag to keep the kids swim wear all together and easy to carry, so that is what inspired this project. Summer is finally here in the UK,  So i have only one thing on my mind.. Gardening.  Well that's not strictly true, its revamping the garden, I leave all the weeding to my wonderful hubby.  He was born with the green fingers, where as i was born to have my fingers covered in paint, glitter, glue and anything else i can craft with. I found a image that i loved, and I drew up a stencil from card. I cleaned up the pots as best as i could, but they were weather worn, but that did not matter.  The first step was to paint the terracotta, i decided to go with cream and green,  as i think these two colours work amazingly well together.  Does the green look familiar??? If you have read the  DIY tiered flower pots  post you would recognise it. Once the pots had dried, I drew the stencil on, I varied the picture on the pots so they were not to same-y. Few days ago as i was browsing and wasting my time on Pinterest  as i needed some inspiration for the pots i have left over from last year, i ran across this cute idea of making tiered flower pot . I thought why have i never thought about this before? I had all the things i needed: Pots Paint Rod Now i remember why i put these to one side.  They are completely scratched and weather-worn. First thing was to paint them.  I used the same colour paint as i used when i painted the  Antique stencilled terracotta pots .  It looks a completely different colour in the next three photographs, i am not sure why. I used an upturned pot inside the larger one to give the smaller top pot height. I thought that the top pot would be more secure by putting a rod through the upturned pot and the top pot.
